The town of Bellingham is preparing for a hot and fun summer of swimming, sports... and roadwork. Monday, June 14th, will mark the beginning of the road projects, which will span throughout the summer. While the town was looking to spread out the dates of road work occurrence, because of funding restrictions, the town will have to plan to finish the majority of the work this summer. From road repaving to drainage projects, even including some town center improvements, the community can expect to see a lot of orange cones scattering the road. Department of Public Works Director Don DiMartino acknowledges that "Nothing happened last year, we were ready to launch, but couldn’t launch without MassDOT approval … and things like that.” Beginning with a major town center reconstruction, including new curbing, widened lanes, and updates traffic signals, the large project will span into the end of June next year.
